LEAP, Riyadh
Delegate with the Pakistan Software Export Board's delegation to LEAP in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, one of the largest technology conferences in the region, with more than a hundred Pakistani delegates.
When I speak, I talk about how I approach the work: starting with the product before the model, taking AI from prototype to production, building a company from a freelance practice, and giving talent outside the big cities a real ecosystem. I have done that on national television, at universities, at industry conferences and on international delegations.
How I approach AI in an established SaaS product without a rewrite: what to keep, what to change, and how to get from prototype to production.
The data access, permissions, evaluation and human approval we put in place to turn an AI demo into something a business can depend on.
How my brother Umar and I bootstrapped Datics AI from my freelance practice in Lahore to multi-million-dollar ARR, and why growth came from getting clearer about what we do, not bigger.
What we learned at Tech Nation about building talent, startups and investment in South Punjab, and why the whole industry needs it.
If we sit with a media analyst and have media data, we become media analysts; if we take a banker's data, we become bankers … we sometimes become bankers, sometimes doctors, sometimes media analysts, because all our work is on data.
In our field we say data is the new gold … until you have the data, you cannot do decision making.
There is a transition in the world towards AI and machine learning … the purpose of building the company was that we would work on all the latest technologies, and through them make people's lives easier.
It is my fundamental belief that if the ecosystem has four pillars and all four are not standing, the building will not stand. So if you focus only on Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, and not on these areas, then our IT industry also will not be able to grow.
I started from Upwork … if at four o'clock at night I get a message from a customer, I wake up, I reply to him, and I go on a call at once.
Hackathons are time-bound, within which you have to present some prototype. By prototype I mean any workable solution: that if we get help for this thing and deploy it on a large scale, many people will benefit from it.
Before becoming a freelancer, they should identify what their core strengths are.
They are the ones who will take the country forward … now they have mobile phones, and because of the mobile all digital access is in their hands. So I think the next future is theirs.
Spoken in Urdu, translated into English.

In my words: “There is a transition in the world towards AI and machine learning … the purpose of building the company was that we would work on all the latest technologies, and through them make people's lives easier.”
Guest segment as an entrepreneur on the morning programme. In my words: “If we sit with a media analyst and have media data, we become media analysts; if we take a banker's data, we become bankers … we sometimes become bankers, sometimes doctors, sometimes media analysts, because all our work is on data.”
